Russell D. Rivera, CFA, CFP®
Founder and President

As the Founder and President of Voice Wealth Management (Voice), I like to think of myself as a Personal CFO and Financial “Therapist” for entrepreneurs, young professionals, and their families. I help clients make prudent financial decisions regarding spending, saving, investing, and planning while giving a voice to their individual financial priorities and experiences.

I graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2000. Then, I started my career as an AMEX floor specialist and trader for Goldman Sachs, where I worked from 2000-2007. Prior to founding Voice in 2013, I worked with APB Financial Group as Head Trader and Market Strategist, where I first defined my portfolio philosophy. I was granted my CFA® Charter in 2007 and earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation in 2016. I’m also a member of the Financial Planning Association, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Divorce Professionals.

I’m also the treasurer and a member of the board of directors for Y-Apply, Inc. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to educating high-achieving public school students from diverse backgrounds about financial aid options and the application process to top-tier colleges and universities.

Personally, I’m heavily involved in family and community endeavors. I’m an Ambassador for and the Entrepreneurship Council Chair at the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. I coach my son’s little league team and organize community events for my children’s school and PTA like baseball, soccer, and skating outings (where I dressed as the school mascot). In my free time, I like to play softball, poker, and golf. When I married, I adopted the Northwestern Wildcats (my wife's alma mater) as my favorite Division I football team.

My Pledge to You

Trusting someone with your finances can sometimes feel a little uncomfortable, and that’s exactly why I believe in making my vision clear to each client I work with. I’m here to help you follow through on your financial commitments by showing you the steps you need to take and regularly reviewing your progress towards achieving them — all while offering you the utmost transparency and support.

No Asset Minimums—Recognizing that everyone in all stages of life may need help, there are no asset minimums with Voice. Your wealth could even be negative because of student loans or other debt, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have wealth to manage.

Emotional Aspects of Money—Money is emotional, and once you start letting those emotions get in the way of making good decisions, you’re toast. I’m not a licensed therapist, but what I do can sometimes feel like financial “therapy.”

Family Focused—I am in this business because of a supportive family, and I always put them first. When you become part of the Voice family, it’s my job to make sure that you live the best life you can with the money you have.

Entrepreneurial Mindset— Whether you are just starting a new business or are several years into running a successful one, your personal family finances are like running a business where you are a major stakeholder. I am like a “Personal CFO” for you and your family. I want to help, and I want you to succeed.

Expertise & Education — I am continuously learning, and my professional, educational, and business experience uniquely position me to understand my clients’ needs. This is complemented by a depth and breadth of industry and business know-how to help provide consistent investment performance.

Portfolio Philosophy — I believe strongly in the science and research of building portfolios rather than using individual stocks and that your investments should be globally diversified. I build portfolios to match clients’ risk profiles and lifetime needs.

Ethics, Integrity, & Accountability — Voice adheres to a strict Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility. I operate my firm with the utmost professionalism and make investment decisions based on my philosophy of avoiding real or perceived conflicts of interest to ensure your full trust and confidence.

Partnership & Accountability — I work with you, not just for you, to help you achieve the best life possible. This means that I will always take the time to clearly understand your background, philosophy, needs, and objectives.
